Partial rupture of anterior cruciate ligament: preliminary experience of selective reconstruction

Abstract: Background: Partial lesions of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) are more common than is generally thought, accounting for about 10-12% of ACL injuries. Selective reconstruction may be considered as an option in isolated bundle rupture. The purpose of this study is to evaluate both subjective and objective clinical results, as well as functional recovery time, after selective arthroscopic single-bundle reconstruction in a consecutive series of patients affected by partial ACL rupture. “…3 The continued presence of the torn ACL fibres aids in biomechanical stability, better vascularity and proprioception aiding in the healing process and therefore the management depends upon the prevailing knee instability, functional limitations and laxity in the sportspersons when they are unable to reach an optimal fitness level to resume sporting activities at a pre-injury level. 4 Meniscus tears are associated with the ACL injuries. 5 Whereby, the incidence of meniscus tear in patients with complete ACL injury has been reported to be 51.9%e63%, incidence of meniscus injuries in partial ACL injuries remains to be undetermined.…”

“…(6) selektif tek demet rekonstrüksiyonu cerrahisi geçiren 36 hastayı dahil ettikleri çalışmalarında 4 yıllık takip sonuçlarını bildirmişlerdir. Yazarlar çalışmalarının sonucunda selektif ÖÇB rekonstrüksiyon cerrahisi geçiren hastalarda ortalama 96,1 IKDC skoru elde edilirken SF-12 testi ile yüksek düzeyde hasta tatmini sağlandığını bildirmişlerdir (6). Bizim çalışmamızın sonucunda da; selektif tek demet rekonstrüksiyonu cerrahisi geçiren hastaların postoperatif 2. yıl takiplerinde, literatür ile paralel olarak iyi-mükemmel klinik sonuçlar tespit edilmiştir.…”

“…Literatürde parsiyel ÖÇB yırtığı sonrasında gerçekleştirilen selektif ÖÇB rekonstrüksiyon cerrahileri sonrasında diz instabilite testlerinden olan Lachman ve pivot shift testlerinde iyi sonuçlar elde edildiğini bildiren çalışmalar bulunmaktadır (6)(7)(8). Serrano-Fernandez ve ark.…”
