“…Short-chain (PFBA and PFPeA) and long-chain PFASs (PFTrA, PFTeA, PFHxDA and PFODA) were not all detected in several previous studies due to poor peak shape or blank contamination, which resulted in unsatisfactory LODs or recoveries. In the present study, the LODs of short-chain PFASs (PFBA and PFPeA) and long-chain PFASs (PFTrA, PFTeA, PFHxDA and PFODA) were 0.008, 0.022, 0.045, 0.058, 0.15 and 0.19 ng mL −1 , respectively, which were much lower than those of previous studies [1,11,23,25,27,35], the LODs of PFBA, PFPeA, PFTrA, PFTeA, PFHxDA and PFODA were 0.35, 0.76, 0.32, 0.22, 0.53 and 0.42 ng mL −1 , respectively, in Llorca et al's study [27], and the LODs of PFBA, PFPeA, PFTrA, PFTeA, PFHxDA and PFODA in our traditional MTBE method were 0.035, 0.031, 0.19, 0.23, 0.27 and 0.32 ng mL −1 , respectively. The low LODs of short-and long-chain PFASs in the present study might result from our efforts to improve the peak shape of analytes and blank contamination control during the detection process.…”
