“…The lack of well-designed and integrated programs, such as mentorship and supportive supervision, could be the cause of this difference in knowledge about partographs [70]. Other factors according to other studies that may contribute to lower partograph utilization include a lack of expertise, a lack of understanding, insufficient partograph training, and a negative attitude among study participants [70].…”

Other studies that indicate health workers do not always use the partographs due to several reasons including but not limited to lack of human resources, time of admission, knowledge and training, attitude, sex, low competence, lack of on-going facilitative supervision, acceptability of the tool and lack of functioning referral mechanisms [9,16,30,31].…”

“…Fourteen studies [25-27, 35, 38, 40-42, 44, 46-50] have emphasized the role of training as a facilitator for partograph utilization in labor monitoring in Sub-Saharan Africa. Trained obstetric care givers had over 15.46 [44], 7.06 [48], 5.49 [41], 3.94 [40], 2.86 [42], 2.4 [47], 2 [50], and 1.9 [46] higher odds respectively of using the partograph properly than those who did not have this training. However, the lack of training or knowledge which creates incompetency, knowledge gaps and bias among care providers to con dently use the tool, has been cited as a main barrier to partograph utilizing in Sub-Saharan Africa [25-33, 39, 40, 47, 48, 50].…”
