Nat. ed. 10. 2: 855. 1759) for a South-American Paspalum now widespread in many warm countries and also naturalized in Europe, especially in France in the Loire valley and in the South-West (P. Jovet, Boissiera 19: 305. 1971). Bor (Flora of Iraq 9: 494. 1968) contends that it should be called Paspalum paspalodes (Michx.) Scribn., a name based on Digitaria paspalodes Michx., Fl. Boreali-Am. 1: 46 (1803). Bor spells it paspaloides, but paspalodes is the original spelling. In Bor's view this plant is not Linnaeus's true P. distichum. The examination of Linnaeus's type (79/9) in the IDC photographic edition of his herbarium convinces us that his species is indeed that usually named P. distichum L. with a short-peduncled spike and another sessile one, each spike with flattened rachis bearing pairs of abruptly acute spikelets. The extreme left plant on sheet 79/9 has 3 spikes as commonly occurs on naturalized material here (M. Debray, Bull. Centre Et. Rech. sci. Biarritz 7: 585. 1969). Linnaeus's plant came from Jamaica (Pugill. Jamaic. Plant., Uppsala 1759 and Amoenit. Acad. 5: 391, 1760), and nothing more reminiscent of it than the plant commonly called P. distichum (Bor's P. paspalodes) can be found in e.g. Hitchcock, Manual of the grasses of the West Indies (Washington, 1936). “…It was found in spring Zloići and the Norin River, both in the north-eastern part of the studied area (Appendix 1).Hydrocharis morsus-ranae L. is a free-floating aquatic plant, frequently found in Croatian watercourses and backwaters of Podravina, Posavina and Podunavlje regions in continental Croatia(Nikolić 2021). In the Mediterranean part of the country, however, the species is seemingly extremely rare, recorded only in the Neretva River delta in historical times(Visiani 1842, Horvatić 1949 and mentioned byJasprica (2007) in the context of relatively rare occurrence of the community Hydrocharietum morsus-ranae. Our detailed search of the watercourses of the Neretva River catchment shows that H. morsus-ranae occupies many sites, and is actually quite widespread in the studied area (Appendix 1).…”
