“…Most adult Pacific lamprey passed Bonneville Dam, the first dam encountered by these fish at river kilometer 223 on the Columbia River, at temperatures of 15-23°C (Keefer et al 2009). Similarly, peak passage of adult Pacific lamprey at Willamette Falls occurred during peak river temperatures of 23°C during 2005 (Mesa et al 2010). Lamprey that passed Willamette Falls may have done so to avoid warm temperatures, which is interesting in that fish appeared to show the opposite behavior upstream of Willamette Falls: many slowed or stopped migrating during times coinciding with peak river temperatures.…”
