Abstract:An experimental study of passive damping in rotating composite I-beams is presented. Damping is augmented in a Gr/Ep I-beam using a co-curable viscoelastic material layer in the flanges of the I-beam. This study examines the effects of variable visco-elastic material thickness in the flange in improving passive damping performance. Experimentation is carried out in both a non-rotating, and rotating condition in the vaccuum chamber.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
