Patency of femorofemoral venous crossover grafts assessed by duplex scanning and phlebography

Abstract: This study was undertaken to determine the accuracy of duplex imaging of femorofemoral venous crossover grafts (Palma-Dale operation) for postthrombotic unilateral occlusion of the iliac vein. Twenty-four patients, 14 men and 10 women with a mean age of 50 years (range 24 to 72 years), were subjected to duplex imaging and phlebography a mean of 5 years after surgery. Scanning was done with patients in an erect position. A graft was reported as patient if it met the following criteria: it could be imaged in con… Show more

“…12 The only significant change in the management of venous trauma since the last major conflict has been the emergence of endovascular therapy. The use of open surgery for repair of arteriovenous (AV) fistulas, venous thrombectomy, and venous bypass procedures (such as Palma-Dale femoro-femoral saphenous transposition, 14 or Iliocaval/femorocaval ePTFE bypass grafts 15 ) of stenotic or occlusive vein segments has become even more infrequent. Traumatic arteriovenous fistulas are usually found during arteriography for evaluation of an abnormal pulse, duplex ultrasound of an injured extremity, or during venography for a swollen leg.…”

“…В литературе мало сведений об оценке результатов перекрёстного аутовенозного шунтирования при односторонних обструкциях подвздошных вен и функционировании шунтов в отдалённом послеоперационном периоде с помощью УЗДС или других инструментальных методов [3][4][5]. Исследования функционирования сафенопоплитеальных шунтов при обструкции бедренной вены единичны [6].…”
