Arsenic (As) is one of the most toxic metalloids that possess many forms. As is constantly migrating from abandoned mining area to the surrounding environment in both oxidation and reducing conditions, threatening human health and ecological safety. The biogeochemical reaction of As included oxidation, reduction, methylation, and demethylation, which is closely associated with microbial metabolisms. The study of the geochemical behavior of arsenic in mining areas and the microbial remediation of arsenic pollution have great potential and are hot spots for the prevention and remediation of arsenic pollution. In this study, we review the distribution and migration of arsenic in the mining area, focus on the geochemical cycle of arsenic under the action of microorganisms, and summarize the factors influencing the biogeochemical cycle of arsenic, and strategies for arsenic pollution in mining areas are also discussed. Finally, the problems of the risk control strategies and the future development direction are prospected.

Bird behaviors have been widely detected and studied as important ecological indicators. As one of results of bird flight behavior at airports, bird strike has received constant attention due to its impacts on significant economic and life costs. Therefore, bird detection and awareness play a crucial role in the bird strike prevention at airports. This paper reviews the development of the bird identification and detection. The results show that (1) the number of publications is in a rapid growth with United States having a strong academic influence as the core of international cooperation network; (2) acoustic monitoring, image and radar detection are three primary technologies according to the analysis of the co-occurrence and keywords evolution trends; (3) all three technologies are still in the development stage and artificial intelligence-assisted multiple detection technologies combination should be the direction of technological innovation based on S-curve analysis; (4) a conceptual model can be proposed for airport bird detection and overall bird situational awareness to establish a comprehensive airport bird strike prevention system. The results provide information on the prospects of technology development and future hotspots in bird detection and situation awareness, which will be useful for scholars and policy makers in related fields.

This study investigates demutational changes in plant communities of phosphorite mines between 2005 and 2021. A total of 23 plant species were initially found in the surveyed areas in 2005, while 68 species were identified in spring 2021. The plant communities were categorized into five different groups, with the older communities (No. I and II) exhibiting richer vegetation and greater diversity. Community No. III comprised various cereals, legumes, orchid plants, and mosses. Dominant species in community No. I included Betula pubescens, Carpinus betulus, Quercus robur, and Picea obovata, while community No. II featured Juniperus communis, Larix sibirica, Pinus sylvestris, and Abies sibirica. Erosion was observed in community No. V on slopes of different ages. The study also found changes in physicochemical indices, such as increased organic matter concentration and decreased pH value (4.9). The basal respiration rate of the pit soil was low (around 0.4 mg CO2/m2/h), and carbonate content ranged from 0.06 to 0.9%. This study presents novel data on the dynamics of species composition, plant community structure, and physicochemical soil parameters in human-altered habitats, thereby contributing to the expansion of our knowledge of vegetation recovery and evolution in such environments.
