Pathophysiology of Acute Coronary Syndromes Leading to Acute Myocardial Infarction

Abstract: Acute coronary syndromes, including unstable angina, myocardial infarction, and sudden death, account for more than 250,000 deaths annually. They are the manifestation of a progressive atherosclerotic process, which culminates in the rupture of atherosclerotic plaques and the formation of mural thrombi.
