Abstract: Peritoneal metastasis is the result of a complex, stepwise process that involves multiple, spatially and temporally distinct interactions between the primary cancer, disseminated cancer cells or clusters, and the mesothelial lining of the peritoneal cavity and intraperitoneal organs.
