Paths correlation matrix

Abstract: Both the Jones and Mueller matrices encounter difficulties when physically modeling mixed materials or rough surfaces due to the complexity of light-matter interactions. To address these issues, we derived a matrix called the paths correlation matrix (PCM), which is a probabilistic mixture of Jones matrices of every light propagation path. Because PCM is related to actual light propagation paths, it is well suited for physical modeling. Experiments were performed, and the reflection PCM of a mixture of polypro… Show more

“…It is necessary to decompose the Mueller matrix to interpret the underlying depolarization. In the Cloude decomposition [13] , the coherency matrix is given scattering is considered as the linear incoherent superposition of reflection and multiple scattering [9], [14] , and then the coherency matrix is decomposed as Then the Mueller is decomposed as…”

“…Strong depolarization results from the incoherent superposition of the optical responses of the grating, which could be used to study the complex structure of the grating [8] . The paths correlation matrix of the mixed sample is decomposed into the single scattering and depolarization related to multiple scattering [9] .…”

“…Many plasma pressure models [25][26][27][28] of LSP have been proposed and researched so far, such as the Fabbro model [25] , which is the current most widely recognized model in the application fields of metals and alloys. On account of the experimental fact that the effect of LSPP on dielectric coatings was affected by the coupling of various factors such as the detailed characteristics of absorbing layer and pulse waveform, a plasma pressure equation was established based on a more suitable model proposed by Liu et al [29] to achieve the optimal LSPP parameters and further reveal the improvement mechanism.…”

“…In a real world application, the study on the mixed state is more valuable. From this idea, the Mueller matrix M of this paper can then be decomposed as [29] (13) where d is the coefficient of depolarization.…”
