“…Although the Pal-NH 2 -supported Au 48 Pd 52 alloy nano-catalysts also exhibited four peaks at 2θ of 39.3°, 45.5°, 65.8° and 79.5°, these peaks lay between monometallic Au and Pd peaks. Thus, we could demonstrate that Pd and Au atoms had penetrated into each other’s mutual lattice and formed a AuPd bimetallic alloy structure [36,37].…”

“…This is the case, for instance, of Pd adlayers deposited on Au substrates. Au-Pd surfaces are catalytic to several reactions, including the electro-oxidation of formic acid, 13 ethanol, 6,14 and glycerol. [3][4][5]7,15,16 However, the relationship between the surface structure and reactivity is not totally understood, despite it is known that the activity of Au-Pd surfaces depends on the deposit thickness and the substrate structure as well as the electronic and geometric effects.…”

“…[3][4][5]7,15,16 However, the relationship between the surface structure and reactivity is not totally understood, despite it is known that the activity of Au-Pd surfaces depends on the deposit thickness and the substrate structure as well as the electronic and geometric effects. 14,15,17,18 In this sense, the stability of Pd-Au adlayers has been tested by Kibler et al, [19][20][21] depositing palladium on gold single crystal electrodes with a well-known surface structure. Using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM), the epitaxial growth of palladium in the gold basal planes is observed.…”

“…For example; Pd-based catalysts decorated with some metal oxides (CeO 2 , Y 2 O 3 , Al 2 O 3 , TiO 2 , MgO, In 2 O 3 ) have been designed to increase the catalyst electroactivity and stability in ethanol oxidation [12e15]. Pd-based binary catalysts such as Au [16,17], Ni [18,19], Pt [20], Bi [21], Ag [22], Cu [23] and Pd-based ternary catalysts [24e27] have been investigated by several researchers. It has been found that PdeCo alloys have excellent electrocatalytic performance in comparison with pure Pd catalyst [28,29], and Co is much cheaper than precious metals such as Ag, Au and Pt.…”
