PD-fingerprints of some high voltage apparatus

Abstract: For reliable verification of the quality of both, new and aged insulating systems, not only the correct measurement of significant internal partial discharges (PD) but also an exact localization and physical interpretation of the detected PD-signals is needed. A step forward towards the interpretation of conventionally measured PD-signals is realized by a digital data processing. This paper describes PD-measurements performed on different highvoltage apparatus using a computer controlled phase resolving partia… Show more

“…For example it now allows measurement of the phase conditioned distributions, pl(qi(¢i) ] ACj) where B ql is the amplitude of any P-D pulse that occurs with phase ¢i contained in the N specified interval ACj. This type of distribution has been considered recently by others [58,59]. However, in addition to this distribution, our system is capable of N measuring many others in which phase is specified.…”

“…Techniques have mm been developed to measure z_ch parameters as mean P-D pulse amplitude and i repetition rate [52], pulse-heigh_ distribution [53-55], pulse shapes [56], correlation of pulse amplitude with phase of an ac vo:_tage [57,59], and correlation between optical, m electrical, or acoustical pulses.…”

“…In this work, these statistical parameters including skewness, kurtosis, cross correlation, peaks, asymmetry, and phase factor are all calculated based on the PD signals. The skewness, kurtosis, and cross correlation are defined as follows [10], [11].…”

“…The determination of P-D pulse characteristics has been the subject of numerous previous investigations [51]. Techniques have been developed to measure such parameters as mean P-D pulse amplitude and repetition rate [52], pulse-height distribution [53][54][55], pulse shapes [56], correlation of pulse amplitude with phase of an ac voltage [57,59], and correlation between optical, electrical, or acoustical pulses.…”
