Peak Your Frequency: Advanced Search of 3D CAD Files in the Fourier Domain

Abstract: An ever-increasing number of industries are adopting additive manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D printing, to their production lifecycles for manufacturing parts. A computer aided design (CAD) model is used to manufacture the part. The capability for efficient search and retrieval of the CAD models from the database has become an essential need for designers and users. However, traditional search techniques perform poorly in the context of searching CAD designs. In this paper, we propose Fourier Fingerprint … Show more

“…In contrast to the centroid-based method of the Simple Fourier descriptor, the Fourier Fingerprint Descriptor finds uses a local maxima filter to gather a set of points [8]. The first point acts as an anchor point, and the distance is measured to the remaining ''target'' points.…”

“…In Mouris et al [8], 3D objects are sliced along 2D planes, and the 3D slices are then projected onto those planes. The 2D planes are rotated in 45 degree increments, resulting in far fewer projections than the lightfield descriptor.…”

“…We use these points to calculate ciphertexts using the Elgamal ECC algorithm and the E222 curve. For example, the encryption of point 𝑋 9 , 𝑌 9 is (𝑋 9 , 𝑌 9 ) ⇒ 𝐶1, 𝐶2 as shown in (8).…”

“…The 3D model has been used in education, graphical design, industry, medicine, the military, engineering, computer video game industry, video animation, and virtual reality [3], [4]. The 3D model contains several types of models such as the 3D point cloud model [5]- [7], the 3D computer-aided design (CAD) model [8], [9] and the 3D mesh model [10] for different purposes. In this research, the researchers worked with 3D mesh models.…”
