Peculiarities of Dewatering Technology for Heavy High-Viscosity Crude Oils of Eastern Region of Ukraine

Abstract: High-viscosity crude oils from the Yablunivske field (Ukraine, Poltava region) have been studied. The oils were diluted with gas condensate to reduce viscosity, and then various demulsifiers were added. It was established that it is expedient to dilute oil with heavy gas condensate and dehydrate it with PM-1441 brand A non-ionogenic demulsifier, based on block copolymers of ethylene and propylene oxides. The dewatering degree was found to be 95 %.

“…In addition, the presence of sulfur can cause corrosion of equipment. 49 The water content in the oil mixture of the Yablunivske field is 4.2 vol %, which requires careful dehydration of crude oil with the use of special reagents -demulsifiers. 50 A characteristic feature of the blended crudes is the low content of light fractions distilled to 633 K. The yield of the residue is about 57 wt %.…”

“…), also to introduce the development of HHO and bitumen deposits, and most importantly, to start the search and exploration of heavy oil deposits and natural bitumen within the above-mentioned zones with the prospective discovery of their significant reserves at shallow depths. 16 One such deposit of high-viscosity oil in Ukraine is the Yablunivske field, it is located in the Poltava region, 17 km from Lokhvytsia. 3 At present, the explored oil reserves of the Moscow and Bashkir deposits of the Yablunivske field amount to about 50 million tons, where more than 90 % of all explored oil reserves of the field are concentrated.…”

“…This type of oil is extremely relevant for Ukraine because it is a complex raw material for a number of the national economy sectors though today it is not given enough attention. 3,[13][14][15][16] For example, components of motor fuels and distilled bitumen which are obtained from HHO and properly modified, may be used in various industries, e.g. for road construction.…”

“…The understanding of the initial components mutual influence on the density and viscosity of oil mixtures was based on studies of simple ideal solutions, and as a result, errors occurred in the calculations of technological regimes. [1][2][3][4][5] There is a problem with predicting the viscosity of the formed oil mixtures. The linear law of mixing with respect to viscosity is not applicable.…”

1 The deviation of density and viscosity values of oil mixtures from those calculated according to the additivity rule has been examined. Mathematical models have been developed for determining the properties of mixtures with different compositions taking into account the group composition of the source components.
