Abstract:Learning material usually has a logical structure, with a beginning and an end, and lectures or sections that build upon one another. However, in informal Web-based learning this may not be the case. In this paper, we present a method for automatically calculating a tentative order in which objects should be learned based on the estimated complexity of their contents. Thus, the proposed method is based on a process that enriches textual objects with links to Wikipedia articles, which are used to calculate a complexity score for each object. We evaluated our method with two different datasets: Wikipedia articles and online learning courses. For Wikipedia data we achieved correlations between the ground truth and the predicted order of up to 0.57 while for subtopics inside the online learning courses we achieved correlations of 0.793.

Abstract-Rapid growth of technology invalidates newly produced information and causes it to become old. This situation leads teachers, instructors and academicians to use the information duly and effectively. To achieve this goal, there should be some tools that will be used by wide range of educationists in a way that is fast and effective. These tools should also allow them to create the knowledge and share it. In this study, we have developed a web-based dynamic content generation tool for educationists who are teaching Object Oriented Programming (OOP) course. The software tool that we have developed is capable of creating course content and generating UML class diagrams dynamically related to basic OOP concepts according to the information provided by the course instructor. Our developed tool is easy to use, has user-friendly interface and can be adapted to any other programming courses easily.

Abstract. In the lifelong learning context, the efficiency of learning is measured according to the users' achievement of the target competences. However, in a virtual learning environment supporting the competence development process ends up being an elusive and time-consuming task for teachers or instructional designers. In this paper, we introduce Designer, an approach for teachers to help them in designing courses via a semi-automatic design process based on dynamic user modeling and adaptive learning design generation. A qualitative and quantitative evaluation demonstrated the effectiveness of Designer in supporting teachers to create adaptive courses.
