“…The identified components are student‐ and parent‐centered asthma care coordination, clear communications with and among students and parents, recognition of the risk factors for asthma episodes, communication and collaboration with other professionals, and tailored asthma education for students and their parents. Finding from this integrative literature review indicated that asthma care coordination at schools has challenges, such as poor communication with parents, inadequate knowledge of asthma, socioeconomic and health access barriers; lack of support for asthma care coordination at school settings, nursing shortage, and insufficient professional development services for nurses (Aruda et al, ; Baker et al, ; Cicutto et al, ; Engelke et al, ; Garnett, Smith, & Ormandy, ; Garwick et al, ; Hanson et al, ; Hoekstra, Young, Eley, Hawking, & McNulty, ; Janevic et al, ; Knauer et al, ; Liberatos et al, ; Liptzin et al, ; Moricca et al, ).
