Peixes Não-Nativos Em Riachos No Brasil: Estado Da Arte, Lacunas De Conhecimento E Perspectivas

Abstract: Biological invasions are among the main causes of biodiversity loss on planet. Losses are accentuated in streams, which are sensitive to human impacts, since they have specialized fauna and higher degree of endemism. Despite this, studies on invasions by non-native fish in streams are incipient in Brazil. In this review, we present an introduction on the process (i.e., stages) of biological invasion, the environmental factors that influence the establishment and the impacts of non-native species in streams. A … Show more

“…The introduction of non-native species is currently one of the biggest problems responsible for the decline and/or even extinction of native species (Garcia et al, 2021). After going through some steps in the invasion process, introduced species can become invasive; if that happens, they are able to change the structure of communities, the functionality of ecosystems and interfere in ecological relationships, such as predation, competition, parasitism, and mutualism (Gallardo et al 2016).…”

“…This stage was characterized by the compilation of information obtained from the extracted articles, related to (1) species and its degree of threat (according to ICMBio 2018) (2) location (geographical coordinates) and stream order; (3) species status (native or non-native); (4) sub-basin, micro-basin and river/stream where the survey was carried out; (5) main themes (trophic ecology, growth, environmental impacts, community structure, integrated biological aspects, reproduction, riparian zone influences on the fish community/populations) and ( 6) temporal trends, defined as the difference between the last and the first sampling year. We considered non-native species to be those introduced outside their natural range (Garcia et al 2021) and classified them according to Langeani et al (2007).…”
