Leonard et al (1978) have described a case in which the pelvic kidney was inadvertently entered during the procedure for herniography. In conclusion, the development of renal ectopia is still an enigma and because of its insidious nature a more thorough investigation of the cause of ectopia should be undertaken.…”

Summary. Bilateral pelvic kidneys and a unilateral pelvic kidney were found in a male and female cadaver, respectively. The upper pole of the left pelvic kidney in the male impinged upon a lateral bony projection from the body of the 5th lumbar vertebra. A cyst was present at the lower pole of the same kidney. The vascular anatomy and the resultant variations of the normal anatomy of the pelvic structures have been described. Eetopie r6naleR6sum6. Deux reins pelviens ont 6t6 trouv6s sur un cadavre de sexe masculin et un rein pelvien unilat&al sur un cadavre de sexe f6minin. Le p61e sup&ieur du rein pelvien gauche chez l'homme se situait au niveau d'une exostose lat6rale du corps de la 5 e vert6bre lombaire. I1 pr6sentait de plus un kyste au niveau de son p61e inf&ieur. L'anatomie vasculaire et les modifications des structures pelviennes r6sultant de cette variation ont 6t6 analys6es.
