Penaeicola halotolerans gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel bacterium of the family Cyclobacteriaceae isolated from a shrimp pond

Abstract: A Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, rod-shaped, aerobic bacterium (designated as LMIT005T) was isolated from shrimp ponds in Shantou, China. The new isolate was characterized taxonomically using a polyphasic approach. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain LMIT005T was found to be affiliated with the family Cyclobacteriaceae of the order Cytophagales … Show more

“…Halobacterium salinarum JCM 8978 (AB663362) was used as an outgroup. Bootstrap support is shown for cases where the value was greater than 50% based on 1000 replications (Ali et al 2021). The scale bar indicates 0.01 substitution per nucleotide position.…”

“…After being 10-fold serially diluted, dilutions (10 −3 , 10 −4 , and 10 −5 ) were spread on marine agar 2216E (Difco, Becton, Dickinson and Company) for bacterial isolation. The HMALI004 strain was selected out of 20 bacterial strains after 3 days of incubation at 25°C under aerobic conditions based on distinct morphological features and purified after three successive transfers to a fresh medium (Ali et al, 2021). The pathogenic bacterial strains V. parahaemolyticus and V. cholera were kindly provided by the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Marine Biotechnology, China, and stored in our laboratory at −80°C.…”
