Objective: This study was conducted with the aim of revealing the thoughts of women in the menopausal period, the symptoms and coping methods they experience, and the effects of menopausal symptoms on their lives. Methods: The population of this study, whose data were collected with a phenomenological approach among qualitative research designs, consisted of menopausal women who applied to a family health center in a province between September and October 2020, and with a purpose ful sampling 17 women were included. Data were collected by one-to-one interview method with a semi-structured interview form created by there searchers. Results: The audio recordings and interview notes obtained from the interviews with the women were transcribed. Five themes were identified in the study. These are perceiving menopause as a diseaseor not, having information about the menopause period, the problems experienced during the menopause, coping strategies with the experienced problems and the effects of the problems on their life. At the end of there search, participants stated that women do not accept menopause as a disease, they do not have much information about the problems experienced during this period, they frequently experience hot flashes, suddens sweatings, inability to sleep at night, tension, restlessness, decreased sexual desire, their coping methods are limited and menopause affects their lives negatively. Conclusion: It has been determined that the menopausal symptoms experienced by women affect their psychological state and social relations. It can be suggested that women in the menopause period should be informed about the menopausal period and methods of coping with the symptoms, so they should be supported regularly by biopsychosocially which is very regular in family medicine.
