The purpose of this study was to determine the concentration of spermatozoa in New Zealand rabbits after giving of various types of beluntas leaf tannin extract. This type of research is experimental research. The research design is a one-group post-test design. A sample of 16 rabbits. The sampling technique used is purposive random sampling. The research was conducted at the Chemical Engineering Laboratory of the State Polytechnic of Malang, the Laboratory of Kesimma Medica Malang, the Integrated Laboratory, and the Biology Laboratory of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The study was carried out from August to September 2019. The study design used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments, namely hydrolyzed, condensed, and pure tannin extract of beluntas leaves and the control group was given aquades orally with a dose of 3 ml/kgbb with 4 replications. repetition times. The procedure of this research 1) Preparation of extract of beluntas leaf tannins, 2) Phytochemical test of extract preparations, 3) Treatment of rabbits as experimental animals, 4) Surgery and collection of rabbit spermatozoa, 5) Observation of spermatozoa using a microscope, 6) Calculating the concentration of spermatozoa. The method of data collection was by calculating the concentration of spermatozoa in each treatment using a hemocytometer and a Neubauer counting chamber using a binocular microscope. Data analysis with one-way Anova test and Duncan 5%. The results showed that the dosage of 3ml/kgbb of various types of beluntas leaf tannin extract had an effect on the spermatozoa concentration of New Zealand rabbits (sig<0.05). The findings of this study are that the best treatment that can reduce the number of spermatozoa in New Zealand rabbits is the condensed tannin extract of Beluntas leaves.

Staphylococcus epidermidis merupakan bakteri flora normal kulit. Ketidaknormalan flora normal akan menyebabkan gangguan kulit diantaranya jerawat. Pengembangan kosmesetika sebagai antibakteri perlu terus dilakukan salah satunya menggunakan bahan alam daun beluntas. Beluntas merupakan tanaman yang memiliki aktivitas sebagai antibakteri dan anti inflamasi karena mengandung metabolit sekunder seperti tannin, polifenol, flavonoid dan minyak atsiri. Ekstrak dilakukan purifikasi untuk memperkecil massa ekstrak. Tujuan penelitian dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi ekstrak terpurifikasi daun beluntas dalam formulasi krim sebagai kandidat kosmesetika yang dapat menghambat pertumbahan bakteri S. epidermidis. Sediaan krim dilakukan pengamatan karakteristik fisik untuk melihat stabilitas krim dalam penyimpanan. Sediaan krim dilakukan uji antibakteri terhadap S. epidermidis menggunakan metode difusi. Krim yang mengandung ekstrak daun beluntas 5% b/v, 10% b/v dan 15% b/v memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap S. epidermidis dengan diameter zona hambat berturut – turut sebesar 9,9±0,022 mm (sedang), 14,9±0,019 mm (kuat), dan 20,9±0,049 mm (sangat kuat). Krim daun beluntas tidak mengalami perubahan pada pengujian organoleptis. Pengujian nilai pH dan viskositas mengalami peningkatan tetapi masih memenuhi kriteria sediaan krim.

Powdered Pluchea indica Less leaves have been utilized as herbal tea, brewing of pluchea tea in hot water has antioxidant and antidiabetic activities, because of phytochemical compound content, namely tannins, alkaloids, phenol hydroquinone, phenolics, cardiac glycosides, flavonoids, and sterols. Using of this extract on food, such as jelly drinks, buns, and soymilk can increase functional values and influence physic, chemical, and sensory characteristics of food. The study was carried out to assess the effect of various concentration of pluchea tea on the physical, chemical and sensory properties of wet noodles. A one-factor randomized design was applied with pluchea tea at concentrations of 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30% (w/v). Physical properties analyzed included water content, swelling index, cooking loss, color and texture. Chemical properties measured were bioactive contents of total phenolic content, total flavonoid content, and antioxidant ability to scavenge DPPH free radicals and to reduce iron ions. Sensory properties determined were taste, texture, color, aroma and overall acceptance. The addition of various concentrations of extract offers significantly effects on parameters of physical, chemical and sensory properties of noodles, except color (redness, chroma and hue), cooking loss, water content, swelling index and aroma. Using of 10% (w/v) of pluchea tea resulted in the best sensory properties such as color, aroma, taste, texture, and overall acceptance with the scores of 5.62 (slightly like), 5.45 (slightly like), 5.46 (somewhat like), 6.53 (like), and 6.53 (like), respectively. Generally, the study concluded that wet noodles can be made by adding pluchea tea at 10% (w/v). Dried samples TPC, TFC, DPPH free radical scavenging and iron ion reducing power were 82.84 mg GAE/kg, 62.44 mg CE/kg, 130.68 mg GAE/kg and 51.33 mg GAE/kg, respectively.
