Parents in a family have a big responsibility in raising their children. An important part of building character is being a good parent. You can shape a person's character by teaching him values. Children learn religious and social values from the way their parents treat them. This goal can be achieved if parents use the right parenting style. This is because the parenting style experienced by children will affect their social and mental growth. Therefore, parents need to learn more about how children develop social and emotional skills so that these skills develop well and can be accepted by society. The purpose of this study is to describe how parents help their children learn social and mental skills. The type of research carried out was qualitative research. This study was attended by all parents who had children aged between 9 and 12 years. The research was conducted in Bangsalsari, Jember, East Java, Indonesia. Observations and conversations are used to collect data. The triangulation method and Milles and Huberman theory can be used to check the validity of the data. Research findings show that parents have formed a democratic pattern towards their children by listening to and supporting their ideas. Authoritarian and loose parenting styles are not widely applied by parents who have their own children.

Spiritual formation is a critical component in faith development toward Christlikeness. When the Christians are no longer growing, they are actively dying. Therefore, various efforts need to be made to help Christians grow. However, many spiritual formation efforts are still segregated, fragmented, or isolated from other discourses. This approach tends to focus only on the spiritual dimension and ignores that an individual has complex dimensions that cannot be separated from one another. To realize a more holistic spiritual formation, this article explores some developmental psychological theories to find approaches that might help to nurture the faith of believers holistically. The research method employed for this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection was done by library research on various developmental theories from various developmentalists. From the results of the investigation, the author found different insights to realize more effective spiritual formation, namely by involving the community as a social context, taking into account every human dimension, giving space to the process, accommodating the nature of spiritual growth as multi-faceted and multi-directional, and presenting various experiences in the process of forming spiritual disciplines.

This study aimed to find out how are the perception of students regarding to the use of role play technique in learning speaking skills and also what are strengths and weaknesses of it according to students’ perception at SMP Negeri 1 Kelapa Dua, Tangerang. The objectives of the research were to comprehend about how are the perception of students regarding to the use of role play technique in learning speaking skills and also to find out about what are strengths and weaknesses of using role play technique in learning speaking skills according to students’ perception. The research employed a case study method. The data were collected by observation, questionnaire, and interview. The results of the research showed that it helped them in English Vocabulary, English Grammar, English Comprehension, English Pronunciation, and also their English fluency. Moreover, it was more fun and helped them to cultivate their knowledge, made them interested and more enthusiastic, more optimistic, more motivated, taught them about teamwork, involved them directly, and more active. However, it still made them shy and afraid when playing roles. It is also proven to be efficient as a technique in learning speaking skills, but less effective in fostering their self-confidence.
