Abstract:Streptococcus pneumoniae is the most common bacterium that causes community-acquired pneumonia. Basil leaves (Ocimum basilicum L.) have antibacterial compounds. The results of the phytochemical screening showed that basil leaves contain saponins, tannins and essential oils which have antibacterial activity.
