Language is an important comunication tool for everyone, including for early childhood. With language, early childhood can express feelings, thoughts, share experiences and knowledge, and socialize. Therefore language skills need to be developed, especially tor early childhood. This research aims to determine the language development of early childhood through educational computer games at school, how the effect of educational computer games on the language skills for early childhood. This study is a pre-experimental method with the one group pretest-posttest design. The results showed that 56 % of early childhood language skills are influenced by educational computer games, while the remaining 44 % were influenced by other factors that were not the focus of this study, then there is a significant positive effect on language skills based on the educational computer games coefficient value (X) on language skills (Y) of 0.730 which indicates the direction of positive influence and based on the t-test, the results of tcount = 11.179 2.039 = ttable. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that there is an influence of educational computer games on early childhood language skills.

Kegiatan akademik, seperti tulis-menulis telah menjadi kebiasaan mahasiswa di semua perguruan tinggi. Namun, hal tersebut belum menjadi sesuatu yang menyenangkan bagi mereka. Buktinya, ketika diberikan tugas kuliah untuk menulis sebuah teks, mereka cenderung tidak serius mengerjakannya. Hal tersebut mungkin saja terjadi karena mereka tidak konsentrasi belajar bahasa Indonesia. Hal itu disebabkan adanya aktivitas media online lain yang lebih mendominasi pikirannya. Aktivitas yang biasa mereka lakukan meliputi menonton film, bermain game online, dan bermedia sosial. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar keseriusan mahasiswa untuk mengikuti pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia, baik secara sinkronus maupun asinkronus melalui media perkuliahan LMS ekuliah Unisba. Selain itu, penulis ingin mengetahui sejauh mana kualitas isi tulisan mereka saat diberikan tugas untuk menulis sebuah teks dan faktor apa saja yang memengaruhi penyebab tingkat kualitas kemampuan berbahasa mereka. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi langsung dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa lebih antusias apabila perkuliahan dilaksanakan secara sinkronus daripada asinkronus karena penjelasan bisa langsung mereka simak. Selain itu, aktivitas media online di luar belajar yang mereka lakukan sangat berpengaruh terhadap kualitas dan kuantitas isi tulisannya.Kata kunci: Aktivitas media online, keterampilan berbahasa, mahasiswa

This research aims to know speaking teaching methods used at Kampung Inggris Pontianak for elementary school students and tutor obstacles during teaching activity. The method applied in this research was qualitative approach with descriptive analysis. The data were collected from interview and observation with the owner of Kampung Inggris Pontianak, West Kalimantan. It was found that English speaking skill to elementary school students was separated into four levels; basic, intermediate 1, intermediate 2, and advanced. There are five methods applied by Kampung Inggris Pontianak to improve students English speaking skill. Flashcards, watching movies, listening, games, and singing. There were two kinds of obstacles that tutors face during the class. First, most of the tutors’ backgrounds were non-educational. So, they found it hard, sometimes, to control their elementary students who are very energetic. They might have English language competence. However, it is not adequate as their only competence to teach students compared to tutors with English educational background. Therefore, Kampung Inggris Pontianak holds micro-teaching practices to see tutor candidate performances before coming into class. Second, new students made many false answers on the placement test just to make them get into a lower level class than they are supposed to be. The researcher hopes this research will give knowledge to the reader of how tutors in Kampung Inggris Pontianak teaches speaking skills to their students.
