Cassava starch filled linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) films are made in order to make plastics which environmentally friendly. The use of compatibilizer ethylene-acrylic ester-maleic anhydride polymerized is needed to obtain a compatible mixture of starch which is hydrophilic and LLDPE which is hydrophobic. In this study LLDPE films obtained were tested for tensile strength and elongation before and after accelerated aging and density. Melt flow index (MFI) of the film was also measured to determine the rheological properties. Crystallinity has been done by an X-Ray diffraction. The results showed that the addition of thermoplastic starch tended to reduce the tensile strength, elongation, and MFI values but increase the density of LLDPE films. The aging process at a temperature of 70 °C ± 2 °C for 168 hours ± 2 hours tends to increase the tensile strength but decrease the extension of the break.

Biodegradable Spoon is an environmentally friendly spoon-based product made from cassava starch, glycerol, and sugarcane. The research aims to determine the influence of the addition of sugar cane to biodegradable spoon characteristics. This research uses a completely randomized design (RAL) with 1 factor that is the variation of the addition of sugarcane. Each treatment is 3 times repeated and 2 observations. The results showed that the addition of sugarcane affects the value of water content, solubility as well as biodegradability of the spoon. The moisture content of ingredients ranges between 3.78-2.16%. The time of solubility in biodegradable spoon water is increasing with the highest time being 79 hours 50 minutes. The value of biodegradability of the highest spoon in the treatment of adding a 0% cane pulp with a value of weight loss of 52.92%, but on the other hand the increase of sugarcane is added the value of biodegradation increased.

The manufacture of biodegradable plastics with the main ingredients of talas beneng (Xanthosoma Undipes K. Koch) starch, chitosan, and glycerol as a plasticizer has been carried out by various additions of starch and reduction of chitosan. Initial assessment of talas beneng starch reveals: starch content - 20.51%, water content - 8.58%, fat content - 12.71%, and protein content - 3.51%. Physical testing of biodegradable plastic produces thickness values ranging from 0.166 mm to 0.234 mm, tends to meet JIS Z-1707: 2019 standards, density value is 1.674 g/cm3, and the lowest water absorption value is 20.51%, both meet SNI 7188: 2016 standards, and there is a decrease in mass every week for 28 days in the biodegradation test.
