Pengaruh Zat Ekstraktif Beberapa Tumbuhan Terhadap Mortalitas Rayap Tanah (Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren)

Abstract: Subterranean termites are a group of termite that causes economical loss in the timber and crop cultivation business. In Indonesia, subterranean termites are found attacking garden plants and forest plants such as coconut tree, cocoa tree, palm oil tree, and pine tree. Besides, subterranean termites also damage a lot of construction buildings which are made from wood. In Indonesia, it is difficult to effectively prevent the growth of subterranean termite. One of methods to improve wood durability towards subte… Show more

“…Among these, 85% are classified as having low durability, while only 15% are considered durable. The low durability of wood increases its vulnerability to wood-destroying organisms such as termites, wood rot fungi, and other wood borers (Arinana et al, 2022;Ariyanti et al, 2016;Hutabarat et al, 2019;Luth, 2020).…”

“…Every year, Jepara produces 17,355 m 3 of by-products consisting of flakes (22.32%), particles (9.39%), and sawdusts (8.77%), and most of these by-products are teak sawdusts (Sambe et al 2021). Generally, wood has natural resistance against termites and fungi if it contains extractive substances toxic to both organisms (Luth 2019). Teak extractive compounds such as anthraquinone and 2-methyl anthraquinone (MAQ) are important agents against deterioration organisms such as fungi and termites (Ismayati et al 2023).…”
