“…Many employers neglect the needs of their disabled workers due to a lack of information or ignorance about their specific needs (Rustad;Kassah, 2021), although adaptations of the workplace and its surroundings (Kwan, 2020;Su et al, 2022) can contribute to improving their employment situation (Helena;Magnus;Carin, 2023;Molyneux, 2023). They are more prepared and understand the duties and responsibilities of a job that needs to be carried out while working (Brendle et al, 2019).…”

“…This has resulted in a call to examine ways to create and promote inclusive workplace environments, policies, and practices to improve employment outcomes for persons with intellectual disabilities specifically (Iwanaga et al, 2021; Lysaght et al, 2012; Nelissen et al, 2016). Researchers have been encouraged to focus on the exploration and mobilization of knowledge regarding the lived and day‐to‐day experiences of employers and self‐advocates, including specifically the barriers and facilitators of inclusive employment (Ellenkamp et al, 2016; Helena et al, 2022; Lysaght et al, 2015; McGlinchey et al, 2013; Taubner et al, 2022). Research incorporating inclusive and participatory methods in the design and implementation have been identified as a valuable way to offer a unique depth to qualitative studies and to generate translational information relevant to the daily lives of persons with intellectual disabilities (Bigby et al, 2013; Garcia‐Lee et al, 2023; Jones et al, 2020).…”
