Peptide‐Based Nanoarchitectonics for the Treatment of Liver Fibrosis

Abstract: Liver fibrosis is a process of excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix caused by liver injury. Liver fibrosis can progress to cirrhosis or even liver cancer without proper intervention. Until now, no effective therapeutic drugs have been clinically approved for treating liver fibrosis. Hence, the development of safe and effective antifibrotic drugs is particularly important. As a representative biomaterial, peptides have been investigated as key components for constructing antifibrotic nanomaterials giv… Show more

“…Especially, this paper demonstrates that out-of-box thinking will lead to the development of new thin film nanoarchitectonics. These are expected to contribute to the energy, environmental, and medical problems that are currently being addressed. Not limited to these near-future possibilities, I conclude this review by discussing what the challenges will be when we consider a larger future direction.…”

“…Furthermore, they postulated that the controlled inflammatory response may impact melittin’s anti-fibrotic action in activated HSCs. They then demonstrate that melittin prevents liver failure in the D-galactosamine/LPS-induced mice liver failure model via suppressing NF-B signaling and apoptosis ( Li et al, 2023 ). Melittin lowers the high mortality rate, alleviates hepatic pathological damage, suppresses hepatocyte apoptosis, and suppresses hepatic inflammatory responses ( Jafari et al, 2024 ).…”

“…For example, recent papers advocating nanoarchitectonics can be found in a wide range of fields. In addition to application-oriented areas such as catalysis [131][132][133][134][135], sensors [136][137][138][139][140], devices [141][142][143][144][145], energy production [146][147][148][149][150], energy storage [151][152][153][154][155], environmental response [156][157][158][159][160], drug delivery [161][162][163][164][165], and biomedical applications [166][167][168][169][170], there are also fundamental areas such as material synthesis [171][172][173][174][175][176], structural control [177]…”
