Abstract

The role of the teacher as a guide is expected in leading students in the class, not only in aspects of knowledge but also in all aspects of education. The role of a teacher is implemented in guiding a student to become an understanding and doing the will of the Lord in his or her life. Teachers must be able to guide students to experience the changes and growth that meet the educational purposes. The teacher's role as a guide in performing his or her role requires a student's response in learning. However, the fact is that in learning there are students who participate less actively in the classroom and make the learning not run well. The purpose of the writing paper, therefore, is to designate the role of Christian teachers as guides in building students' active participation in the classroom. The writing method used by writers was a review of literature. Studies suggest that the role of a Christian teacher as a guide should lead students to actively participate in the class with a strategy offered to solve the problem of learning that is the application of the learning method or media. The conclusion of this writing is the teacher's role as the guide is essential in building active participation in students to create active classes, well-run learning and the purpose of learning can be accomplished. The writer's advice for the next researcher is to make direct and thorough research possible so that the teacher can perform his role as a guide.
