Agrotourism development in Ngargoyoso District requires the optimization of women’s role in its operation. Women’s participation in tourism can reduce gender inequality in development, especially in 3 villages: Berjo, Kemuning, and Jatirejo. Therefore, researchers want to study in more depth women’s role and participation in agrotourism development in Ngargoyoso District. The research method used was a case study with a qualitative approach. Focus Group Discussion, interviews, documentation, and field observation were the data collection techniques used in this research. The results showed the active role played by women in Ngargoyoso sub-district, especially in Berjo, Jatirejo, and Kemuning villages, in developing agrotourism through their participation in MSMEs management, photography, Women’s Farmer Groups, agrotourism managers, tourism promotion, maintaining ticket counters, and joining ojek and jeep communities. Women in Ngargoyoso sub-district, especially in the 3 villages, participate in agrotourism management for economic reasons and want to be independent without depending on others. However, the village government has not supported them yet. Further assistance is expected to be given to women in the attempt of developing tourist villages in Ngargoyoso District.
