Protein is the most expensive component of feed, resulting in economically burdensome production costs. The Maggot Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) can be utilized as protein source feed ingredients. We aimed to analyze the implications of maggot black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) flour with various processing techniques in broiler rations. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications, each replication consisting of 5 broilers. We designed four treatments, P1 = Sundried for 2 days + grinding, P2 = Oven dried at 50°C for 7 h + grinding, P3 = Roasting at 100 °C for 15 min + grinding, and P4 = Water scalding at 96 °C for 1 min + grinding. The processing techniques can provide a comparison of price differences in each treatment and can reduce production costs with the application of as much as 11.25% in broiler rations. The oven-drying (P2) can improve the water quality, roasting (P3) can increase metabolic energy, and hot water scalding (P4) can reduce production costs and has economic value by analysis results price

The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of strain, density and their interaction on mortality and body weight of broiler chicken raised in the closed houses. The data was obtained from 60 broiler farms in the Central Java province. Three strains were Cobb, CP 707, and Loghman. The density level was classified into three groups: £10, >10 to <15, and ³ 15 birds/m2. Parameters observed were mortality and body weight in the first week to the fifth week (M1, M2, M3, M4, and M5) and (BB1, BB2, BB3, BB4 dan BB5), respectively. Test of significance effect for strain and density was performed using Mixed procedure of Statistical Analysis System (SAS) University Edition V.6p.2. software. The results showed that density was significant (P<0,01) on the first week (M1), their interaction was (P<0,01) on M1 and (P<0,05) on the fourth week (M4), but not significant on body weight. The conclusion from this study there was an interaction between genetic and environment on mortality one week after chick in and nearly harvesting.

IPB D1 chicken is a local chicken resulting from crossing pelung, sentul, kampung, and parent stock broiler strain Cobb chickens. IPB D1 chicken was released through a decree by the Ministry of Agriculture with No. 693/KPTS/PK. 230.M/9/2019. Free-range is a system of raising farm animals, including chickens, by providing access to outdoor running (pasture) to exercise, find more feed, and be exposed to more oxygen. This study analyzed the carcass percentage, edible carcass, non-edible carcass, and chemical quality of IPB D1 chickens raised in a free-range system. A total of 50 IPB D1 male chickens were raised in free-range and intensive systems for four weeks. The microclimatic data were analyzed descriptively. Meanwhile, carcass percentage and physicochemical and organoleptic properties of IPB D1 chicken meat were subjected to a t-test. Free-range and intensive systems showed no significant effects on the carcass, commercial cuts, edible and non-edible percentages, and MDA quality traits of IPB D1 male chicken thigh meat.
