Perceived Stress and Stress Projected into the Spontaneous Storytelling of Two Groups of Fourth Grade Children

Abstract: The purpose of this descriptive correlation study was to describe stress levels in fourth grade children from two geographic locations: an inner city recreation club and a suburban parochial school. The use of spontaneous storytelling and a life events questionnaire provided information about the stress being experienced by the children. This article presents story themes and stressful life events of interest to adult caregivers helping children cope with stressful experiences.
