Percepções sobre a Deficiência entre os Estudantes de Psicologia

Abstract

O objetivo deste estudo foi o de compreender as percepções sobre deficiência entre estudantes de um curso de psicologia de uma universidade comunitária do estado de Santa Catarina. O estudo contou com a participação de dez estudantes que cursaram duas disciplinas de Psicologia e Inclusão I e II. Os dados foram obtidos a partir de um questionário sociodemográfico e de uma entrevista semiestruturada, e analisados com base na análise de conteúdo. O referencial teórico norteador do estudo foi o relativo ao campo dos Estudos da Deficiência. Os resultados apontaram que as percepções sobre deficiência das participantes foram mediadas por concepções de deficiência relacionadas aos modelos médico, social e biopsicossocial. A formação em psicologia, as experiências sociais e as vivências no contexto familiar foram importantes para a constituição das percepções que as entrevistadas têm sobre deficiência. Por fim, destaca-se a importância de os cursos de psicologia oferecerem conhecimentos relacionados à deficiência e suas intersecções para que os profissionais dessa área possam desenvolver uma atuação voltada à garantia dos direitos humanos das pessoas com deficiência.

Durante et al (2020) identified that the medical model of disability is still strongly present in the way Psychology students perceive disability. Bayat (2014), in a study in Cote d'Ivoire, investigated the conceptions of disability in professionals close to the area (such as psychologists, doctors, special education teachers and program administrators) and in a group of mothers of children with developmental disabilities, and the view of professionals is based on the medical conception of disability and of mothers on metaphysics, on religious precepts.…”
