Abstract:Beside thermal ablation, potentially curative therapies for HCC include liver resection (LR) and liver transplantation (LT). Owing to the absence of randomized trials comparing the three approaches, when selecting the best option, it is recommended to evaluate the main independent clinical prognostic factors of HCC: tumor burden, vascular invasion, extrahepatic spread, liver function, portal hypertension, and patient conditions (Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group [ECOG] Performance Status) [1].
