“…This group also noted that the severity of the symptoms did not usually correlate with the size of the malformation, with location and nature of the malformation being more definitive indicators. 10 Consistent with these findings, our examination of preand postsclerotherapy MR imaging found that, despite a perception of treatment-related improvement in 90.6% of patients and 93.8% of clinicians (results comparable to those published in the literature), MR imaging demonstrated Twenty-two-year old patient with a large diffuse venous malformation of the right cheek and oropharynx, who presented with swelling leading to oral obstruction and obstructive sleep apnea. Both components of the lesion were treated.…”

“…STS is a widely used sclerosant agent which has been available in Canada and Europe for many years and is primarily used in the treatment of varicose veins. STS has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration FDA for sclerotherapy of varicose veins [17,18]. In this case series, our clinical experience with the use of STS 3 % solution tends to validate STS as a minimally invasive, safe, and effective treatment of head and neck VnM.…”

“…While some authors evaluate overall patient satisfaction using a self-assessment questionnaire, others attempt to quantify morphologic response [29]. Given the possible discrepancy between the clinical and morphologic response, there are arguments for both methods [14,30]. As an argument for patients to undergo sclerotherapy, satisfaction based on self-assessment seems to be a useful instrument, since all studies show comparable satisfaction in up to 80 % of cases, as Nakamura et al could show in their cohort of 40 patients [31].…”
