Objective: to analyze the factors related to micro and macro vascular complications in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: a documentary survey of 134 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Bivariate statistical analysis (Pearson's Chi-square test and Fisher's test), with statistical significance if p<0.05. Results: the frequency of micro vascular complications was 50.7%, and retinopathy was the most found (61.7%). There was a statistical association between the group with more than 10 years of disease and the presence of retinopathy. Cardiopathy was one of the most frequent macro vascular complications (69.0%). Regarding the use of insulin therapy in mono therapy, there was significance in the presence of nephropathy and vascular disease. Conclusion: results with statistical significance related to the appearance of complications with disease time, highlighting the presence of diabetic retinopathy. It was verified that the lower the schooling, the greater the onset of vascular disease.

Objective: to develop a mid-range theory for nursing diagnosis ineffective peripheral tissue perfusion in patients with diabetic foot. Method: the theory construction was carried out in six stages: approach definition; theoretical-conceptual model definition; definition of the main concepts; pictogram development; construction of propositions and establishment of causal relationships evidence for practice. Results: twelve etiological factors and 22 clinical indicators were included in the theory, some of which were not listed in NANDA International (Inc.) and others were adapted to better characterize patients with diabetic foot. A pictogram was constructed and eight propositions were established to verify causal relationships and evidence for practice. Conclusion: medium-range theory made it possible to broaden the concepts and demonstrate the causal relationships between the elements of ineffective peripheral tissue perfusion, providing subsidies to minimize gaps in knowledge and assist clinical nursing practice.

oxidativo (EO) em modelos experimentais de Diabetes Mellitus (DM), pois aumenta a atividade de enzimas antioxidantes. Objetivo: Caracterizar indivíduos com DM tipo 2 e verificar o consumo de alimentos fonte de selênio. Métodos: Estudo quantitativo, observacional do tipo caso-controle. Para coleta de dados foram realizadas visitas domiciliares para aplicação de uma anamnese nutricional e um questionário de frequência alimentar, bem como coleta de medidas de peso e altura. O estudo contou com 100 participantes, sendo 50 indivíduos diagnosticados com DM 2 e 50 sem diagnóstico de DM (controle). Resultados: O maior número de participantes foi de idosos. Verificou-se que o grupo DM 2 apresentava peso superior ao grupo controle. O grupo DM 2 apresentou elevada prevalência de sintomas da doença, entretanto, baixa no que se refere àscomplicações clínicas da mesma. Não houve diferença no consumo de alimentos fonte de selênioentre os grupos, sendo cebola, alho, gema de ovo, leite e brócolis os mais consumidos. Conclusão: O grupo DM 2 apresentou alta presença de sintomas da doença, porém baixa prevalência de complicações clinicas. Houve maior prevalência no consumo de alimentos que apresentam menores níveis de selênio em comparação aos alimentos com maior teor do mineral.
