Performance analysis of an asymmetrical phase-converter-fed induction motor

Abstract: Of the various types of single-phase-to-three-phase static converters used to interface a three-phase motor to singlephase supply, one simple type uses an open delta connection of a sinusoidal supply and a pulsewidth modulated (PWM) waveform to feed the motor. This paper presents an analysis of the performance of the three-phase motor when fed from such an asymmetrical supply. The analysis is based on the steady-state approximate-equivalent circuit of the motor, using the method of symmetrical components. The … Show more

“…In the case that the zero-sequence signal is the one given by (3), the same results as standard SVM are obtained. Sa Sb Sc (5) The modulation signals are integrated by the original modulation signals ( V, ) plus the zero-sequence signal (v 4)' vmi = v1i + vzss i={r, a, b, c}. Furthermore, in the steady state condition, it is accomplished that Vma + Vmb + Vmc = 0 Taking into account that the inverter phase currents are i = + izss = i'+ ig/3 , for i {a, b, c}, and ia +ib +i =0 then (7) C.
