Performance Analysis of Grid-Connected PV Rooftop, at Sakon Nakhon Province, Thailand

Abstract: The performance ratio (PR) based on IEC 61724 standard is calculated under the influence of seasonal variations and the capability of the system. On the other hand, The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) of the U.S. Department of Energy proposed the weather-corrected performance ratio (PRcorr). This PRcorr index calculates the performance of the PV system which has taken the weather variations that influence the cell temperature into account. Both techniques were compared with the simulation program t… Show more

“…The properties of a grid-connected solar photovoltaic system were analyzed using the 1998 IEC 61724 standard (International Electrotechnical Commission, 1998) [6,7]. The performance indicators presented in this standard are very important to evaluate the performance of photovoltaic systems and to determine the losses shown by the systems [8]. The evaluated parameters are the performance factor, energy output, system collection losses, final output and power utilization factor.…”

“…The annual energy production of a solar photovoltaic power plant is calculated as follows ๐ธ ๐‘ƒ๐‘‰ = ๐‘ƒ ๐‘Ÿ,๐‘๐‘ฃ ๐ท ๐‘“ ๐‘ƒ ๐‘ โ„Ž ๐‘ ๐‘‘ (1) where ๐ธ ๐‘ƒ๐‘‰ -the output power of the photovoltaic device is kWโ€ขh, ๐‘ƒ ๐‘Ÿ,๐‘๐‘ฃ -nominal power of the photovoltaic device kW, ๐ท ๐‘“ -overall reduction factor, ๐‘ƒ ๐‘ โ„Ž -average daily maximum solar hour, ๐‘ ๐‘‘ -the number of days in a period, such as a year. The coefficient of reduction of the nominal characteristics is calculated by modeling the actual temperature of the element as follows [7][8][9]:…”
