et al.

Abstract: Renewable and distributed energy generation includes wind turbines, fuel cells, solar cells, and batteries. These distributed energy sources need special power converters in order to connect them to the grid and make the generated power available for public use. Solar energy is the most readily available energy source; hence, if utilized properly, it can power up both domestic and industrial loads. Solar cells produce DC power, and this should be converted to an AC source with the help of inverters. A multi-le… Show more

“…Figure 7 shows the control block diagram of split DC-link and flying capacitor voltages. With this generalized control scheme, all capacitor voltages are regulated at the corresponding references, and thus keep the voltage THD low, particularly at HCHB inverters with a higher number of levels [63][64][65][66].…”

“…The ratios between the voltage source and the voltages of the auxiliary capacitors are given by V c1 = (7V dc )/15, V c2 = (3V dc )/15, V c3 = V dc /15 [57]. One DC voltage source, two auxiliary capacitors, and eight power semiconductor switching elements are used to design a fifteen-level PUC (PUC15) MLI topology, as shown in Figure 7a.…”

“…The ratios between the voltage source and the voltages of the auxiliary capacitors are given by V c1 = (7V dc )/15, V c2 = (3V dc )/15, V c3 = V dc /15 [57]. When the five-level CHB inverter and five-level PUC MLI are compared, the PU MLI will have only a single DC source, whereas the CHB inverter topology needs two D sources for proper switching.…”

“…With a higher capacity and reduced output voltage harmonic distortion, the converter is connected in series with the transformer. This is assumed to be the primary harmonic elimination method of the multi-level inverter; the improvement of power quality is also crucial to researching and comparing different topologies of pulse width modulation [4]. The international community currently relies heavily on non-renewable energy, but after the recent oil crisis, increasing the use of renewable energy has become a top priority for many countries due to its numerous benefits, including minimal environmental impact.…”
