Performance Analytical Comparison of Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) Platforms

Abstract: Both blockchain technologies and cloud computing are contemporary emerging technologies. While the application of Blockchain technologies is being spread beyond cryptocurrency, cloud computing is also seeing a paradigm shift to meet the needs of the 4 th industrial revolution (Industry 4.0). New technological advancement, especially by the fusion of these two, such as Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS), is considered to be able to significantly generate values to the enterprises. This article surveys the current s… Show more

“…Bitcoin, Ethereum). Anyone can join and leave the public blockchain ecosystem at any time, enjoying the full access to read and write (Onik, et al 2019). Blockchain systems operate under the governance model to build trust between participants on a shared network.…”

“…Only the smart contracts implementation enabled the embedding of crossorganization collaboration models that were executed through private (permissioned) and federated (hybrid/consortium) blockchains. In the private blockchain, the access is restricted, and read and write access are controlled based on the roles of the nodes or other restrictions as defined by the protocol (Onik, et al 2019). The Federated blockchain is moderated according to the consortium need, the access can be restricted, or reading/writing rights will be limited and defined as prioris.…”

“…The third section describes our model: a tokenizable e-Participation model based on a platform design [23]. The fourth section details the structure and theoretical system of RETIS, a neural blockchain network prepared to be launched in a cloud environment under a BaaS (Blockchain as a Service) approach [24]. In the final section the paper discusses the opportunities offered by this new e-Participation framework using blockchain as a platform and offers directions for future work.…”
