“…The most commonly used molds/punches are considered to be of graphite for most of the composites and generally graphite sheets are used as a shroud between the sample and the mold-die punch to prevent the sticking of the sample and mold/punch for further use. 11,[68][69][70][71][72][73][74][78][79][80][81][82][83][84][85][86][87][88] The SPS process is entirely divided into four main stages which are (a) removal of gases from the chamber and generation of vacuum, (b) the two intermediate stages involves the simultaneous application of resistance heating and applied pressure, (c) cooling of sintered samples. 75 The existence of spark plasma and the occurrence of discharge have been a controversial issue and highly debatable in SPS sintering process.…”

“…Wang et al 80 in 2020 studied the cutting performance and mechanisms of failure of ultrafine cemented carbides sintered by SPS in dry turning of Ti-6Al-4V on CNC lathe. The SPS fabricated tools with composition (WC-8wt%Co) and (WC-8wt%Co-0.2 wt%VC-1.0wt% cBN) showed better life and higher processed quality than the commercially used (WC-8 wt%Co) composite tool.…”

“…Additionally, sharp cutting edges can be created using ultrafine cemented carbides, which lower cutting pressures and tool temperatures while enhancing surface smoothness. 26 Wang et al 27 investigated the cutting performance and failure mechanisms of ultrafine cemented carbide tools in the dry turning of titanium alloys. They discovered that employing ultrafine WC-Co tools resulted in better tool life and machined surface quality than conventional cemented carbide tool, with the cutting distance being 1.6-1.8 times longer than that.…”
