Performance assessment of nitrogen pollution purification by phytodepuration: case of Temacine pilot station (Algeria)

Abstract: In Algeria, much progress has been made in implementing efficient and less expensive wastewater treatment processes. Phytodepuration is one of the processes that have shown their effectiveness in this area, because of its simplicity and low costs. The only experiment in Algeria is the pilot station located in the city of Temacine. This station is designed to treat 15 m 3 per day of urban wastewater. This work aims to assess the effectiveness in eliminating nitrogen pollution by phytodepuration and to verify wh… Show more

“…This variations influence the rate of evapotranspiration and the biological activity of microorganisms [19] and it has a significant impact on nitrogen removal [20]. It should also be noted that in an aquatic ecosystem, thermal fluctuation has an impact on the development and repetition of algal populations [21] and to note also that recorded values are consistent with national and international irrigation standards [16], [22] respectively.…”

“…Water is a precious and essential natural resource for humans, animals and plants [1], used for multiple purposes domestic, industrial and agricultural. Therefore, the water quality has a big effect on health status and mortality in both humans and animals [2]. In the last few decades, water pollution becomes a severe worldwide problem [3].…”
