“…Because of Cyprus's broad industry landscape, COs must be industry-specific experts to ensure thorough compliance. According to Afriyie et al (2020) [24]; Bhuiyan et al (2020) [25]; Fu et al (2022) [15]; Köprülü and Öznacar (2022) [21]; Nalukenge (2020) [26]; Shen et al (2022) [20], the size of the organization has a major impact on compliance effectiveness. COs in smaller enterprises may wear numerous hats and may not specialize, reducing their efficacy, as is prevalent in many Cypriot businesses, according to Demetriou and Constantinos (2021).…”

“…According to the research, only roughly 53% of Cypriot firms fully meet EU compliance norms Berg industry-specific problems but did not investigate how these challenges intersect with jurisdiction or organizational size. Similarly, the use of AI in compliance has been investigated Ali et al (2023) [16]; Elghaish et al (2022) [17], but not as a mediator between different independent variables and the overall effectiveness of COs. Köprülü and Öznacar (2022) [21] stressed the need for a complete, context-specific study that integrates these variables in a meta-analysis, but empirical work in this area, particularly in the Cypriot setting, is absent Berg & Yüksel, (2022) [6]; Ilhan et al, (2020) [22]; Kyprianidou et al, (2023) [8]; Moutopoulos et al, (2021) [9]. Our research intends to fill this void by employing a holistic model that incorporates these aspects, resulting in a more comprehensive understanding of what influences CO efficacy and performance, as well as how technological adoption can mitigate these effects.…”
