Performance Evaluation of Precise Point Positioning for BeiDou-3 B1c/B2a Signals in the Global Range

Abstract: With the construction and development of the BeiDou navigation satellite system (BDS), the precise point positioning (PPP) performance of the BDS is worthy of research. In this study, observational data from 17 stations around the world across 20 days are used to comprehensively evaluate the PPP performance of BDS B1c/B2a signals. For greater understanding, the results are also compared with the Global Positioning System (GPS) and BDS PPP performance of different signals and system combinations. The evaluation… Show more

“…The PPP method were applied to estimate the ZTD parameter because of the highly accurate orbit and clock products provided by the International GNSS Service (IGS) [ 45 , 47 ]. Table 3 showed the configuration for goGPS-MATLAB software in this study [ 67 , 68 ].…”

“…The results showed that B1I frequency exhibited the best SPP precision in the Asia-Pacific region, B1C frequency was found to lead in other regions, after convergence, and the precision of BDS-3 B1C/B2a or B1I/B3I dual-frequency PPP was slightly lower than that of GPS L1/L2 [25]. evaluated the B1C/B2a global regional dual-frequency PPP precision and compared it with GPS system, B1C/B2a was found to be worse than GPS L1L2 in terms of positioning precision in elevation direction, and comparable to GPS in terms of convergence [26]. Liu et al (2021) compared BDS-3 B1C/B2a with BDS B1IB3I and found the convergence time of B1C/B2a similar to that of B1IB3I; nonetheless, its positioning precision was better than that of B1IB3I [27].…”

“…Recent evolution of the GNSS systems suggest that PPPrelated information is planned to be transmitted via satellite signals. Some examples are the already planned Galileo E6 high accuracy service (HAS) [84], and the BeiDou PPP-B2b service planned for the BDS-3 [85]. Additionally, commercial services exist providing PPP correction data via satellite [86], [87].…”
