Performance evaluation of three phase SRF-PLL and MAF-SRF-PLL

Abstract: Abstract:Synchronous reference frame phase locked loop (SRF-PLL) is a well established technique used for maintaining synchronism of a grid connected VSI with an electric grid. Many methods of PLL are present in the literature to achieve improved performance under nonideal grid condition. These solutions are based on SRF-PLL structure along with some modification to achieve improved performance. It is observed that faster and better performance are achieved at the expense of more computations. Moving average f… Show more

“…These extensions furnish a way to filter out disturbances, while preserving the SRF mechanism. In fact, some recent proposals entirely rely on SRF-PLL dynamics, which are enhanced with a digital prefilter as presented in [5].…”

“…Recent proposals have focused on positive sequence extraction, disturbances filtering, harmonics elimination, and others [4]. The performance of different proposals has been documented exhaustively [4][5][6][7][8], showing that no single PLL solves every challenge. However, a clear trend toward discrete filtering, being led by the moving average filter (MAF) approach, can be identified from the references listed above.…”

“…But when the frequency mutates, the information in the input signals cannot be traced accurately. The Strong Tracking Filter (STF) (Ghoshal & John, 2015;Rende et al, 2013;Sun et al, 2017) can track the change of frequency in real time by reset error covariance quickly. However, the huge amount of algorithm operation will limit the use in some cases.…”
