Performance of Different Varieties of Spring Field Pea (Pisum sativum L.) under Irrigated and Rainfed Environments in North China

Abstract: Field pea (Pisum sativum L.) is one of the most important pulse crops, and is widely grown in North China. To exploit potential pea varieties suitable for growing in spring planting areas, a set National Regional Trials of Spring Pea Genotype was carried out under irrigated and rainfed environments across seven locations. Grain yield and agronomic traits of fourteen pea cultivars were evaluated. Analysis of variance indicated that the effect of genotype, environments and genotypes × environments interaction wa… Show more

“…In reality, climate and soil conditions are not the only factors that determine high yield but also ideal management in research stations, including fertili-zation, actual field preparation, sowing and harvesting time, appropriate irrigation, and also the vital factor for high pea yield and production is actual control of weeds, pests, and foliar diseases. These variances in yield may also indicate remarkable GEI between these environments with the results of previously published reports by Yang et al [52]. So, we made more effort to reduce the variances in these factors, like using pesticides for pests and controlling weeds and foliar diseases to estimate the yield be-side the different environments.…”

“…In relation to the type of culture and the destination of production, different pea varieties were studied to evaluate the relationship between environmental and technological factors, production, quality, sensitivity to stress factors, etc. (Olle et al, 2020;Kumari & Deka, 2021;Yang et al, 2022). This study evaluated the variation of pod and grain production in garden peas, as a relationship between genotype and biostimulating substances, evaluated the interdependence relationship between grain production and pod production, and found models for estimating pea grain production in conditions of statistical certainty.…”
