“…The outcome of infants born at 24-28 weeks was unfavorable, but the prognosis improved rapidly with increasing maturity. Given that it is suggested that two thirds of all fi rst-week deaths can be prevented by simple practices [30][31][32] and that improvement in health care professional skills would reduce the mortality and morbidity of neonates.
