Abstract: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is the psychiatric disorder with the highest prevalence in the world. Pharmacological antidepressant treatment (AD), such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors [SSRI, i.e., fluoxetine (Flx)] is the first line of treatment for MDD.
