Past literature has shown that extraversion is related to the use of positive emotion and social process words. However, the strength of the relationships varies substantially across studies. In this research, we conducted a meta-analysis (k = 37, N = 82,132) to estimate the overall effect size of the two linguistic correlates of extraversion. In addition, we tested potential moderators including demographic variables (e.g., age and gender) and communication contexts (e.g., synchronous vs. asynchronous, public vs. private). Our random effects models revealed a small correlation between extraversion and positive emotion words (r = .069, 95% CI = [.041, .096]), and a small correlation between extraversion and social process words (r = .077, 95% CI = [.044, .109]). In addition, the strength of the relationship between extraversion and positive emotion words varies across communication contexts, while the relationship between extraversion and social process words remains consistent across contexts. Our results suggest that positive emotion words and social process words are linguistic correlates of extraversion, but they are small in magnitude.

Malaysia plays a key role in education of the Asia Pacific, expanding its scholarly output rapidly. However, mental health of Malaysian students is challenging, and their helpseeking is low because of stigma. This study explored the relationships between mental health and positive psychological constructs (academic engagement, motivation, selfcompassion, and well-being), and evaluated the relative contribution of each positive psychological construct to mental health in Malaysian students. An opportunity sample of 153 students completed the measures regarding these constructs. Correlation, regression, and mediation analyses were conducted. Engagement, amotivation, self-compassion, and well-being were associated with, and predicted large variance in mental health. Selfcompassion was the strongest independent predictor of mental health among all the positive psychological constructs. Findings can imply the strong links between mental health and positive psychology, especially self-compassion. Moreover, intervention studies to examine the effects of self-compassion training on mental health of Malaysian students appear to be warranted.

Abstract-Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (OHQ) is an instrument constructed by Peter Hills and Argyle to measure happiness. OHQ is considered a good instrument, has been translated into several languages and has been used widely in several countries for researchs. The objective of this study is to examine the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of OHQ. The empirical finding is expected to further validate the Classical Test Theory approach used before. Evaluation of psychometric properties was analyzed using the Item Response Theory (IRT) with Graded Response Model (GRM). A total of 450 people with the age of 18 to 40 have participated in the study. The results have showed that the items in Indonesian version of OHQ have reasonably high discriminating power and are accurate in measuring happiness. As a result, it can be stated that the Indonesian version of OHQ has good psychometric properties and can be used as a reliable measurement tool for evaluating individual happiness in Indonesia for research purpose.
